Toy Drive Makes the Season Brighter

The holidays were brighter for children at Oishei Children’s Hospital thanks to a toy and card drive organized by Carissa Plesums, middle/high school health and physical education teacher. Starting in November, collection boxes were placed at the MHS during sporting events, concerts, and after school activities. Community members, students, and school personnel spent over a month donating new toys to the cause. Plesums also enlisted help from numerous MHS classes in making holiday cards to also drop off at the hospital. In total, 425 cards were made and 197 new toys were donated. Helping to deliver the items were students Alivia Mott, Ellie Tangeman, Maria Prattico, Logan Dryja, Baylee Hoffmeister, Maddi Kaminski, Jaiden Fries, Katie Cullinan, Adelyn Pionessa, Anna Nowinski, Brenna Ackerman-Gay, Kaylee Powell, Autumn Craigmile, Alexia Maneti, Troy Tyrpa, Logan Lafferty, and Sullivan Wick. Thank you to Ms. Plesums for spearheading this initiative and to all who helped make it a success!
